Hola! My name is
I am a digital fashion illustrator that has a passion for connecting with Creators from around the world.
Lately, I have been experimenting with augmented reality in Adobe Aero and illustrating in favorite app Procreate.
ABOUT Fearless YAYA
I’m Sandra Lucia, a digital fashion illustrator based in Seattle and originally from Colombia. I have been an illustrator for more than 12 years and have been able to work with brands like Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marciano, Bloomingdales, and many more. I have been an artist-in-residency at Saks Fifth Avenue, since 2013, working their private VIP live sketching events.
Lately, I create most of my work on my iPad Pro. I use the Procreate app to create digital illustrations & I bring them to life using Augmented Reality through app Adobe Project Aero. I love to delight my customers with unique augmented reality experiences through my AR capability art prints. My goal is to keep focusing on growing as an artist by collaborating with creators and using my creativity to help other young illustrators/artists learn the things I wish I knew earlier in my career. I would like to develop affordable digital products and resources to help fashion illustrators improve their illustrations.
Why the brand name Fearless Yaya? I want to maintain my childhood wonder when I create my artwork. I want to be as fearless as I was as a young girl and create to bring others joy through my art prints. WHAT’S aUGMENTED REALITY?
Augmented reality is a direct or the indirect live view of the physical, real-world environment whose elements are “augmented” by your smartphone. AR brings my artwork to life in your world and allows you to have fun with art like never before.
Bring AR illustration to life by downloading the Artivive App for Android or Apple iOS (free app). When the app recognizes the art print, it will display the model blinking her eyes. If you are capturing video, be sure to tag @Fearlessyaya and #fearlessyaya for a chance to be featured on Instagram. Here is an example of this print activated by AR. If interested in custom orders, a custom augmented reality print, or commissions please email me: holafearlessyaya [at] gmail.com
Fearless YAYA Process
Here is a brief explanation of my process For this digital sketch of Gabriella Union union wearing Rodarte, I started with a technical colored line drawing and a full colored background. I proceeded to block out the most dominant colors as my base foundation.
I always prefer working in separate layers to make sure I never lose the information of a particular layer. The next step is to put down color shades and values as an impressionist would. Focusing on the planes of the face, I strategically play with dark and light color values to build out the face. It can look a bit crazy putting down different colors, but I always l see a large spectrum of colors.
The final step is to take the brush, bring it down to 26% opacity, and start blending colors together. There are instances that I leave certain colors untouched because they work to inform a shadow or a texture. Finishing touch are my highlights, in case I went too far with blending.
This digital illustration was created and animated on the iPad Pro in Procreate app.
